Set MessagePoint as default screen saver

Once your MessagePoint product is installed you can click Start > Control Panel > Display. On there you click the Screen Saver tab and make sure that MessagePoint Ent is selected as the default screen saver.

Click Settings and then Browse to select the Microsoft PowerPoint presentation on your local system. You can also activate the 'Detect updates on the presentation' and specify the refresh rate. As a designer or content provider, you can update the content of a screen saver presentation at any time. All MessagePoint Professional Edition users will scan for updates on the subscribed presentation. Whenever an update is detected, MessagePoint will copy the presentation locally on its computer and restart the screen saver presentation in order to display the latest and updated information.

By using the MessagePoint Enterprise Edition you can easily connect your screen saver presentation to external data sources like Microsoft Excel worksheets and databases. The MessagePoint Enterprise Edition client will continuously scan the content of the linked data sources and change the content on the slides accordingly. The big advantage here is that you don't have to open and change the presentation to get its real-time content updated. All of this is done by using the embedded DataPoint technology. Only requirement here is that the screen saver presentation is created with our DataPoint Enterprise Edition.

Also you can specify if the running screen saver should be ended on mouse movements and keyboard actions. Typically a screen saver is ended when the mouse is moved or when a key is hit on the keyboard. But sometimes it is interesting to turn off this feature if your screen saver presentation contains hyperlinks to external documents or web sites that you want a user to click on.

MessagePoint and DataPoint for real-time database content

You already have access to DataPoint technology when you install the MessagePoint Enterprise Edition. With DataPoint you can link your presentation to external data sources like Excel worksheets and databases. Big advantage with data connected presentations is that you don't have to update the content of the presentation anymore as this is already done at your data source.
