On October 16, we were contacted by our local funeral home Horis A. Ward and Heritage Hills Baptist Church to produce a PowerPoint presentation for their annual Memorial Service/Service of Remembrance.

This service is provided to the community in remembrance of those who have died during the past few years.

The Funeral Home was able to export data from their data program to a excel spread sheet. The list consisted of over 1.700 Names, but they weren’t able to create the slide show.

I began searching for a solution to this problem. In doing so I contacted the Microsoft news group and posted a message requesting how to accomplish this. Immediately I received a post with a link to PresentationPoint.

After downloading the free demo of DataPoint, I ran the install and in 15 min I was able to create a PowerPoint presentation that lists all 1.718 names provided to me. It is so nice to find a piece of software that performs as promised.

You have saved hours of typing or cutting & pasting to create this Holiday Service of Remembrance. I’m sure that all of the families who attend will feel great emotion as the name of their loved one is displayed.
