The mission of University of Phoenix is to educate working adults to develop the knowledge and skills that will enable them to achieve their professional goals, improve the productivity of their organizations, and provide leadership and service to their communities.

At our ground campuses in Wisconsin, we use Campus Activity Monitors to post classroom locations and details. This is all run from a PowerPoint presentation broadcast to monitors around campus via Video Over CAT5. Previously an employee would go into the data room to update the presentation on a daily basis. As we grew we realized that our data room was not a good place for employees to be constantly in and out of so we began on a search for another method.

We realized that PowerPoint was going to continue being the delivery method of choice, but we needed a new process for updating that information. We experimented with different solutions including remote control software and various PowerPoint plug-ins to allow the changing of a PowerPoint file remotely.

We also wanted to be able to change the content while the presentation was live without students seeing the presentation go up and down.

DataPoint emerged as the most elegant and convenient way to accomplish this. Using DataPoint and PLANPOINT together allowed us to add a lot more flexibility in editing, as well as enhancing the Campus Activity Monitors.

Now, not only do they display classroom data, but once our classes have started and many students have found their classrooms, they automatically switch to show announcements and various information we want our students to see.

This project has made us think about the other ways in which DataPoint would be useful and are constantly brainstorming on new ways to implement it, not only for our students but for our employees as well.

We are currently developing a way to use it to disseminate useful and inspirational information to our employees which they would see every day with fresh information. Whether it be class schedules, "kudos" for a job well done, or specific business statistics, we are looking to PresentationPoint's products to keep our students and employees updated with the latest and greatests information at all times in a seamless manner!
